BismiLlah,
On Being at Home
Home is where the heart is connected to Allah, not worried about being taken away from Him. Home is where we are pushed to remember Allah, removing distractions from Him. Home are hearts that call us to Allah, admonishing us when we falter regarding Him. Home are those who remove what would harm our relationship with Allah, having taqwa on our behalf. Home is where our faith grows, faith that brings fruits of hope and longing. Home is where/when we worship as though we see Him, knowing He sees us. Home is when we long to see Allah in Jannah, so there's nothing filthy in our "furniture." Home-cooked food is halal food, bought with halal money, hoping to taste the fruits in Jannah. Home is a place filled with pious daughters to pious men and sons whose Iman their mothers nurtured. Home is where the call to prayer is heard, and when the heart isn't at rest until it has answered that call. Home is a place made with bricks of faith and cemented with hope. Home is AbdulRashid Sufi playing in the background while the chef is cooking. Home is where knowledge of Allah leads to loving Allah. Home is where we get insights in an age of deception, and when we are blessed with guidance in our age of misguiding distractions. Home is found in salat, and the bedroom is the Fatiha – perhaps, the kitchen. Home is found in siyaam, where we aren't busy working to digest food, so we can make adhkar and increase in taqwa. Home is found in zakat and sadaqa, when we give what we love to those we need it more than we do. Home is found in Hajj and Umrah. Home is Madina. Madina is home, the land of the Sunnah, in the Kingdom whose founding was tied to Tawheed. Baqi is home, where the warm earth embraces the siddiqin, shuhadaa, and salihin. Baqi is home. I want to go home. Home is the feeling you get when you set your eyes on the ka'aba. Home is being a part of the harmony of worshipers in the haram that testifies to the unity of man under One God. Home is the Jannah that Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned. Whoever doesn't stay at home would be scorched by the heat of the naar.
I long for home.
